Hong Kong in 8hrs
April 2026
Basics
Why only 8 hours? Because that’s how long my layover in Hong Kong was and I still tried the make the best of that time.
No surprise, no visa needed! Just a return or onward ticket. No need of the Arrival Card as well, and you can stay up to 90 days.
Transportation
I took a train from the airport to the city, I bought the round ticket from KLOOK webpage, which was cheaper than at the airport. Metro in Hong Kong is so convenient, all you need is to tap your phone at the gates.
Monster building
Quarry Bay/ Tai Koo stop
Exceptional building complex. Very popular tho. Look for 1048 King’s Road entrance.
Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade
Scenic view on the riverside of the city, it’s remarkable how great this place looks at the sunset/night.
Signal Hill Garden
Cute park with a great view on the riverside.
Other park nearby Kowloon Park is a great option if you want to chill in the middle of a city.
Or Hong Kong Park on the other side of a river (Admiralty Station). Choose any!
Wandering around
Didn’t have that much time left, so I just took a walk between the skyscrapers. Just looking at the architecture was fascinating, basically every building is photogenic! And after the sunset, the city is full of big lights and climatic neons.
